The Brantford Bandits family is growing, and we as an organization could not be happier! As we close out the year of 2023, we are very excited to welcome three new members to the Brantford Bandits Junior Hockey Club!
After a stellar 4 year playing career for the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL, Zenon Konopka showed the heart and determination to be an undrafted player who played 346 games in the NHL. Though he finished out his NHL career in 2014 with the Buffalo Sabres, he has played all over North America in both the AHL and ECHL leagues – He even had a stint playing in Russia! Konopka has the experience, the skills and the ability to command a locker room whilst also demanding accountability from our players. We truly could not wish for a better co-coach!
In addition to Konopka, the Bandits are also ecstatic to welcome Rory Montgomery as Assistant Coach – a man who is no stranger to Junior hockey both on and off the ice. Rory has excelled as a Coach in all levels of hockey, and so we are very excited to see the inspiration, knowledge and responsibility he is able to instil into our team.
Finally, the Bandits are excited to announce we have also brought on Mike Mcllveen. After a career in the CIAU at the University of Waterloo and the University of Windsor, Mike went on to be an accomplished educator. He has demonstrated a deep understanding of the community he serves and its people, which is a skill we deem to be extremely important in our hometown of Brantford. He has been involved with Junior Hockey coaching for 7 years, spending the last four years as a head coach. In Mike we’re getting somebody with tremendous leadership, communication and the ability to inspire. We commend him for his commitment to excellence, and look forward to how he transforms our team and players as both Associate Coach and Assistant Director of Hockey Operations.
We as an organization are very excited to work with all of these exemplary individuals, and look forward to seeing how they can transform our team in the coming New Year. Roll Bandits!
